Sea Slopes Wines
Originated in our Fort Ross Vineyard, perched on the sea slopes of California’s North Coast Mountain Range lying along the Pacific coast.
Sea Slopes has vibrant aromatics, gentle tannins and seamless texture. It is intended to be in the glass or at your dinner table soon after release. To achieve this, we select barrels of wine taken from the blocks that have gentle tannins making them the most suitable for early tasting and enjoyment.
The coastal mountain ranges are home to some of the most renowned cool climate wines emanating from California. These mountain ranges span two-thirds of the state of California from the northern redwood coast to Santa Barbara in the south.
In 2015, we expanded our wine lineup with the introduction of a new self-standing brand called Sea Slopes. Originally, “Sea Slopes” referred to a popular, limited-production barrel blend of Pinot Noir from Fort Ross first bottled in 2004. Due to the high demand and popularity of the original blend, Lester and Linda decided to create a dedicated Sea Slopes brand, producing a softer, more approachable, fruit-forward wine that could be enjoyed young without the need for cellaring.
The first release of the newly branded Sea Slopes Pinot Noir was crafted by Fort Ross winemaker Jeff Pisoni and bottled in 2015. Building on this success, we introduced a Sea Slopes Chardonnay in 2018.
With the Sea Slopes brand, we capture the essence of the Sonoma Coast, offering a wine line that is approachable yet upholds the high-quality standards for which Fort Ross Vineyard is renowned.
